Rio Hondo Prep students should read and think critically by:

  • Analyzing, evaluating and interpreting information.
  • Designing and implementing a plan to solve a problem.
  • Collecting, tabulating, charting and analyzing data.
  • Writing an analytical paper using various resources.
  • Making inferences from what they read.
  • Applying what they have learned from reading
  • Using technology and the library to access and synthesize information into a research paper.
  • Exploring questions about the real world by utilizing the scientific method.
  • Applying algorithms and mathematical concepts in solving problems.

Rio Hondo Prep students should communicate clearly and effectively by:

  • Speaking within and to a group on a specific topic.
  • Using the writing process to create, edit, and evaluate.
  • Presenting a dramatic or oral presentation that demonstrates poise, command of language, and clear communication.
  • Writing a coherent essay with logical structure, evidence and supporting statements.
  • Describing orally, or in writing, procedures, results, and conclusions.
  • Demonstrate ideas and feelings through visual or performing arts.
  • Using technology to communicate ideas and information.
  • Express views effectively, respectfully and responsibly
